The act of Life giving you a second chance is not an everyday thing, yet Sudhir Choudhrie, a philanthropist and an entrepreneur, received this 21 years back. His extraordinary story began when he was eight years old in India. After a doctor at a hospital examined his lungs and heart, he learnt that the boy was suffering from a rare medical condition that made his heart skip beats because he had a leaking valve. This meant that the Sudhir’s heart could stop functioning at any time. This condition resulted in various lifetime health issues, such as a vulnerability to infections.
However, this condition did not dishearten Sudhir Choudhrie. He, therefore, established the Magnum Trading Company Ltd in 1975, which focused on expanding and exploring the export market of India. Later, in 1995, Sudhir started working with Adidas AG and Taj resorts and hotels. From 1999 to 2005, he was Ebookers PLC’s Non-Executive Director. In 2003, Choudhrie invested in the initial budget Arline in India, the Air Deccan.
Moreover, His heart failed twice in these working years, and interestingly, Sudhir Choudhrie ignored when doctors told him that a heart transplant was necessary for him to survive. Ultimately, due to the busy work schedule and deteriorating health, he collapsed while at work. Therefore, he had to accept the process because his heart was failing. Thus, something needed to be done urgently. Sudhir Choudhrie, currently aged 70 years, is among the few people in the world who have lived for many years with a heart transplant, and 21 years have passed since he had the transplant. Moreover, despite medical science having numerous advancements, very few transplants have successfully lasted like Sudhir Choudhrie’s. He believes that taking care of oneself and adopting a positive attitude is very important in staying healthy and more productive.
