Marwan Kheireddine, better known as DJ Marv, is a Tunisian-American DJ and producer. He began his career in the late 1990s when he started producing tracks for Arab Spring and Habib Ghribi’s group, The Three Degrees of Discipline, and has continued to produce both critically acclaimed work with international artists such as Inspire, M2M, Jay Z, and Rihanna, to name a few. In addition to musical talent, Kheireddine is also an avid supporter of social awareness projects that aim at empowering underserved children and youth by exposing them to the benefits of higher education.
Kheireddine was born in Sfax, Tunisia, to a family of musicians and, as a result, became interested in music at a young age. He began his career in the late 1990s when he started producing tracks for Arab Spring and Habib Ghribi’s group, The Three Degrees of Discipline. From 1997 to 2003, he had five albums with them. Kheireddine’s first collaboration with Abdul Samad Issa came about in 2000 when the renowned Tunisian artist approached him about working on a song for the album “Abdal,” which was released in 2002. He began his collaboration with the Oum Kalthoum artist in 2009 when he produced the music for the album “Safa Bel Cheer.” He was also a part of the band that accompanied Oum Kalthoum on her last tour, which was her first after being absent from the stage (for 22 years) due to an illness. In 2010, he was featured in Amer Zahr’s documentary on Souad Massi, titled “There is no Place Like Home.”
In November 2011, Kheireddine attended TEDxBeirut, where he gave a speech about his innovation of DJing and shared it with others. He has also supported various nonprofit organizations empowering underserved children and youth by exposing them to the benefits of higher education. He graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. Kheireddine has also received several awards, including a nomination for an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2010 for producing “If I Rise” for the movie “127 Hours” and nominations from MTV Europe and World Music Awards.
